Getting Started As A New Beachbody Coach

You’ve signed up as a Beachbody Coach… Now what?

When I first signed up to be Beachbody Coach back in 2009 I didn’t know exactly what I was signing up or what I supposed to do. (I actually quit and cancelled my account after a few months, but then decided to sign back up a few months later.) I never expected that my $200 investment would turn into a full time business. When I first got started, I thought it would be awesome if I could make an extra $100 a month. One of the mistakes I made earlier on was setting my goals too low.

Because I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t do anything at all, and because of that my business didn’t move forward for almost an entire year. Another mistake I made was not taking action, and sitting back and waiting for someone to do the work for me. Once you understand and accept that when it comes to building your Beachbody business, your results are based on your efforts, and no one else’s, you will be ahead of 80% of all other Coaches.

The reality is that most Coaches are struggling and failing in their business, and blaming external reasons for their struggles. Instead of blaming the company, your upline, the compensation plan, the products, whatever… take 100% responsibility for your actions and your results.

Now don’t take any of this the wrong way. It’s great to have the support from your sponsor and upline. They should be able to plug you into training and answer your questions, but putting in the work is up to YOU. You sponsor is a resource, they can not do the work for you.

You are given the car, the keys, a full tank of gas, and a map… But YOU have to get in, take the wheel, and drive. No one can drive the car for you.

There are a lot of Coaches, and distributors in every network marketing company, that blame their sponsor and are looking for someone to “drive the car” for them.

Don’t expect someone to do the work for you. It. Ain’t. Gonna. Happen. That’s not how this business works.

Beachbody Coach Getting Started
Don’t Over-Think It

Getting Started As A Beachbody Coach

It’s hard to give specific action steps when getting started as a brand new Beachbody Coach. Like I mentioned above, having the proper mindset and setting realistic expectations is crucial. You won’t stand a chance if you get started while having the wrong mindset and beliefs.

Most people don’t want to hear about “mindset and beliefs”, they just want to be told what to do. But being told what to do is not enough. If you don’t truly believe you can have success, you won’t do what you are being told to do.

So in my opinion, step 1 to success as a Beachbody is obtaining the proper mindset and beliefs. The journey to achieving the proper mindset will be different for everyone.

For me personally, I had to work on raising my belief in the business model of network marketing and in my belief of myself. When first started out I believed all kinds of things that weren’t true. I thought things like:

  • Only the people who got in first can make money, I missed the boat.
  • There are too many Beachbody Coaches already, the market is saturated. (You can read up on this here.)
  • I don’t know anyone.
  • I don’t have and credibility or influence.
  • I don’t have a social media following.
  • I can’t be as successful as the other “Top Coaches” because that are better, smarter, know more people, better  communicators, ____ insert any reason my brain could come up with here.

And the list could go on and on.

I was WRONG about all of these things.

These were all things that I truly believed when I first got started and the first thing I had to do was go to work on changing these beliefs and changing my mindset.

And remember, this was my personal experience and journey. You might be in a different place mentally than I was so your path might be different. But I can say from experience, most new Coaches never really get started because their belief level is not where it needs to be. They make the mistake of looking for a “secret shortcut” or “magic method” that doesn’t exist, when what they really need is to work on increasing their beliefs.

“In order to have success as a Beachbody Coach, most people need to raise their belief in the network marketing business model and a mindset shift.”

There are many reasons why “BELIEF” is important. One is because if you don’t believe you can have success, you won’t take action. If we don’t think we can do something, we don’t try very hard, don’t achieve what we were try to do, and then say, “see, I knew I couldn’t do it”.

Another reason your believe level is important is it will determine how you react when someone tells you what you’re doing is stupid, won’t work, and even a scam. If you’ve studied the business model and truly know that it’s a legitimate business model, other people’s opinions of it won’t affect yours. It will be like someone telling you 2+2=5, you know it’s 4, and you know that the person is uninformed and doesn’t know what they are talking about.

And people WILL say negative things about what you are doing. When I first got started I had friends and family laugh in my face and tell me I was crazy. I didn’t let their opinions affect me. Instead I used their comments and fuel to succeed. To prove them wrong. To be able to say, “I told you so”.

How To Raise Your Belief Level Of Beachbody Coaching

I raised my belief level of Beachbody Coaching and the network marketing business model by studying it and reading books on it. By learning how the business model worked, I realized that some of things I believed were NOT true. Things like, only the ones who “got in first” make all of the money, that’s not true at all. I learned the history of network marketing, how long it’s been around, the enormous size of the industry, and the potential is has for anyone willing to put in the effort. Understanding this POTENTIAL is what caused me to finally take action and start doing something.

(Click Here to see some of the books I’ve read and recommend.)

Another way to raise your belief level is by getting around and listening to others that have achieved what you are trying to achieve. Seek out success stories, they are proof of what is possible.

Don’t buy into the excuses and reasons of the people who are struggling and failing. It’s easy to fall into this trap, especially when you are struggling yourself. Vaccinate your mindset by only listening to and taking advice from people that are having success.

DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP – If you don’t believe that network marketing is an awesome business model, study it, read up on it, learn about how it works and why it’s a great business model. Additionally, if you do not believe in the products you are promoting, you are working with the wrong company.

My Beliefs Are Raised… Now What?

So you now know network marketing is a legitimate business model and love the concept, and you love the products you are recommending. Hopefully you would use Beachbody products and feel good recommending them to others even if you weren’t a Beachbody Coach.

So what do you do now, where do you begin?

I’ll start by sharing what NOT to do, which also happens to be what most new Beachbody Coaches do.

DO NOT immediately go on facebook and post, “I signed up to be a Beachbody Coach, go buy my stuff at www.GiveMeMoney.com”. Most new Coaches are doing some kind of variation of this, and it’s doing more harm than good. Facebook, and all of social media is tricky, there’s a science to it. Take some time to learn how to use social media effectively.

Instead of posting, “Buy My Stuff!” on facebook, here are 2 examples of what you could post.

1 – Facebook Post To Generate Challenge Group Interest

“I need you HELP!

My goal is to (insert your own goal here_____ examples – tone up, build muscle, lose weight, etc) lose 10 lbs in the next 21 days…

It’s not going to be easy, but I know I can accomplish this with your help. If you have a similar goal, let’s do this TOGETHER! Let’s support, motivate, and hold each other accountable. I already have a perfect plan in place for us to follow.

Who’s in?”

2 – Facebook Post (Or Email/PM)To Share What You’re Doing

“I’m super excited to share with you the launch of my new business, Beachbody Coaching!

It’s a combination of things I’m passionate about, fitness, nutrition, and helping others.

While continuing to work on my goals, my mission is to also help others reach their goals…One person at a time.

It’s been proven that we’re more more likely to stay on track and reach our goals if we have an accountability partner. (And this goes both ways, I’m going to ask you help me stay accountable as well.)

I’m been a Beachbody customer for over a year and have had tremendous results with their workouts and products. I choose to do this because I know with a 100% certainty others will get great results and love Beachbody’s workouts too.

If you or someone you know is ready to get physically fit, improve your health, increase your level of fitness, lose weight, have more energy AND have fun doing it then please contact me!

I will be your “free” fitness coach and am very excited to support you every step of the way!

Remember, the examples above are just that… examples. Feel free to use them to help you generate some ideas of your own and in your own words. People want authenticity, which is why I’m not a fan of word-for-word scripts.

Everyone wants to know WHAT to say, but that’s not what is important.

It’s not WHAT is being said that matters, it’s WHO is saying, and HOW it’s being said. Which leads me to the last tip of the post… PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.

Facebook Tip

If you’re using facebook to share and talk about your Beachbody business, you should also be adding 2-3 new “friends” a day as a way to grow your network and get new “eyeballs” on your posts.

If you’re not growing your network, the same people are seeing your posts everyday. Which may not even be the case, there’s a good chance that not very many people are seeing your posts at all because it’s based on EdgeRank.

(EdgeRank is the Facebook algorithm that decides which stories appear in each user’s newsfeed. The algorithm hides boring stories, so if your story doesn’t score well, no one will see it. Learn more at http://edgerank.net/)

Remember, not every one of your friends sees all of your posts. Typically it’s less than 10%. So if you have 300 friends, only about 30 (or even less) of them will see your post.

So if your post isn’t getting any likes, comments, or shares…. It’s not because no one cares, it’s most likely that not very many people saw your post. Which is why you must use PMs as a way of contacting people directly.

An Effective Strategy

Regarding the first facebook post example I shared above, a great strategy for brand new Coaches is to simply pick a program, commit to following it 100% (workouts and meal plan), and invite others to do it with you. Not physically doing the workouts together, but just going through the program together where your “Day 1” is also their “Day 1”. This could be in a formal challenge group setting, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. May it’s just a group text or private group chat with 3 or 4 people, it all depends.

Several things will happen. Some people will say yes, and want to do the program with you, which is great.

And some people will say no, this is normal. But these will people will be watching to see if you stick to the program and to see what kind of results you get. Even if they don’t reply back to your private messages or don’t comment on your post… they are watching. Use this as motivation to stick to the program and to meal plan. Be proof the products work.

Eventually, many of the people that originally said “NO” to you will come around it some point in the future when they are ready. Keep in mind that most of the people that say “yes” to you, will be people that said “no” at some point.

“Work Harder On Yourself Than You Do Your Business, And Your Business Will Grow As A Byproduct Of Your Personal Growth.”

In others words, make personal development the goal.

I can give 2 different people the exact same script, and they will get 2 totally different results. Maybe one person says the words with excitement and enthusiasm, while the other stares at floor while talking in a boring monotone voice. The point is, the difference maker is NOT the script and knowing what to say. The difference maker is the person saying it. Embrace personal development. Focus on learning and growing.

It’s also important to mention that personal development falls into 2 categories, skillset & mindset. Focus on improving both of those.

Getting Started As A Beachbody Coach – What Do I Do?

To prevent me from repeating what I’ve already written in another post, take the time to read the post at the link below. It explains how to grow your Beachbody business. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and not sure what to do, this WILL help.

Posting on facebook alone is not enough to build your business. You must also reach out to people directly. In the link below, I explain the ONLY 2 ways to build your Beachbody business (Hint – It doesn’t include posting on facebook.)

2 Things To Consistently Do That Will Move Your Business Forward

  1. Read 10 pages a day of something inspiration, motivational, or educational.
  2. Listen to the National Wake Up Call EVERY week. It’s recorded so you can listen at your own convenience.

These 2 simple things are something that everyone can do, but most aren’t willing to do it consistently. These alone won’t move your business forward, you must also take action, but these 2 things are very important and very beneficial.

Let’s Wrap This Up This Long Post With A Summary

This was a long post and I’ve said a lot. Let’s wrap it up with a few main takeaways.

2 of the biggest mistakes I made when first getting started were setting my goals too low, and not taking action right from the start.

Go to work on your mindset and beliefs. This is the crucial to your success.

Don’t look for shortcuts, unfortunately none exist (trust me, I’ve searched long and hard). Focus on the 3 Vital Behaviors.

Posting on facebook alone won’t grow your business. You have to reach out to people directly.

Read 10 pages a day, and listen to the National Wake Up Call EVERY week and you’ll be ahead of most Coaches.
