In this post I’m going to review the Beachbody On Demand streaming platform. I will explain the pros, the cons, and help you decide if it’s something that will be a good fit for you or not.
Now you might be thinking to yourself, “who the hell is this guy and why should I listen to him?” And that’s a great question. There are a lot of “flaky” people out there in internetland so it’s important to be careful, do your research, and choose wisely who you take advice and recommendations from.
To make a long story short, all I will is say is that I’ve been a Beachbody On Demand user since the beta platform launched in March of 2015. In this post I’m going to be sharing my experiences with the service and giving you my honest review. If you’d like to learn more about me, my story, and who I am, you can check out the “About Me” page.
What Is Beachbody On Demand?
Streaming is the future.
Think about it, when was the last time you bought a DVD?
Chances are it’s been a while. I know it’s been years since my household has purchased a DVD (with the exception of Beachbody workout DVDs). Nowadays with smart TVs, Netflix, Amazon Prime, streaming directly from our cable provider, etc, anytime we want to watch a movie in our home we just stream it. The reality is that DVDs and DVD players are becoming obsolete.
Beachbody has been around for nearly 20 years (founded in 1998) and it’s great to see them keeping up with the times and staying relevant by creating new technology to support their customer’s needs.
With Beachbody On Demand, members have the ability to stream Beachbody workouts directly to their cell phones, tablets, Ipad, laptops, TVs, and almost anything that has an internet connection.
Update: A Beachbody On Demand iOS (For iPhones) app has been created that now allows members to download workouts to their phone just in case they end up somewhere that doesn’t have an internet data connection. Believe it or not, some of these places still exist, lol. Maybe you’re traveling to an isolated area, or in a hotel room with crappy service, either way, if you download your workouts before hand you will still have instant access. (A similar Android app is currently in development but at the time of this post it hasn’t been released yet.)
Why Beachbody On Demand?
Two words … CONVENIENCE & SAVINGS!
Beachbody On Demand is super convenient. All you have to do is login into the platform from whatever device you want to stream your workouts from, go the library, select a program, and then select which workout you want to do and it’s starts playing.
There is no more fumbling around with DVDs looking through the huge stack and trying to find the right one. And no more DVDs skipping, getting stuck, or stopping completely in the middle of your workout. Nothing is worse than the DVD stopping when you are “feelin it” and getting a good workout in. (Unless it’s during Shaun T’s power jumps, those things are brutal and I’ll skip them any chance I can get.)
But in all seriousness, Beachbody On Demand is very user friendly and convenient. In the video below I give you an inside look of the Beachbody On Demand platform and show you exactly what is inside of the member library.
Like I mentioned in the video above, another great benefit of Beachbody On Demand is the cost savings. Here are a few examples of purchasing the physical DVDs versus using the on demand streaming service.
Example 1 – P90x3
- Physical DVDS – P90x3 retails for $119.85
- Beachbody On Demand – P90x is a program that is in the main library, which means every member can access it at no additional cost. New members can start out with a 30 day free trial of Beachbody On Demand, and then if they are loving the program, the streaming platform, and the results they are getting in the first 30 day, they can pay $38.87 for another 3 months of access. This would give you 4 months total of access, which is more than enough time to complete a round of P90x3.
Why pay $119.85 for a program when you can get access to it for only $38.87?
Example 2 – 21 Day Fix Extreme
You’re going to love this. The 21 Day Fix Extreme is basically FREE!
- Physical DVDs – The 21 Day Fix Extreme retails for $59.85.
- Beachbody On Demand – Because a 30 day free trial is offered, and the 21 Day Fix Extreme program is only 21 days long, it’s possible to complete the program before ever being charged anything. So you could do the workouts, complete the program, and if you no longer want to remain a Beachbody On Demand member you can cancel and you’ll never be charged.
Beachbody On Demand “Digital Unlocking” Gives You A 50% Discount
Digital unlocking is another cost savings benefit of Beachbody On Demand. With digital unlocking, members are able to access premium content at a 50% discount of what the normal retail price of the DVDs is. Another bonus of digital unlocking is that there are NO shipping costs because Beachbody On Demand is all digital and there is nothing to ship.
Example 3 – 21 Day Fix – Digital Unlocking
- 21 Day Fix retails for 59.85 for the physical DVDs.
- With Beachbody On Demand you can digitally unlock the 21 Day Workouts for only $29.95.
Overall, Beachbody On Demand is a great value for everything that you’re getting access to. Below is a list of some of the complete programs inside the on demand library:
- Hammer & Chisel
- 21 Day Fix Extreme
- Brazil Butt Lift
- Turbo Fire
- And much more with new content being added every month!
Additionally, any Beachbody programs that you’ve purchased in the past that are not included the main library, are added to your account under a “Purchased Programs” sections.
Beachbody On Demand Members Receive A 10% Discount
I almost forgot to mention this additional benefit for Beachbody On Demand members. All members also get a 10% discount on all Beachbody purchases they make while logged into their account (so make sure you are logged in.) This can add up to HUGE savings for anyone that is drinking Shakeology or ordering Beachbody’s Performance Line supplements on a regular basis.
Beachbody On Demand Is Mobile
Being able to stream your workouts directly to your mobile devices allows you to easily take your workout with you. Whether you’re traveling, want to do yoga on the beach, Insanity in the park, or Body Beast at the gym (because maybe you don’t have access to the dumbbells you need at home), with Beachbody On Demand you can take your workout anywhere you want to.

Most likely, unless you’re still rockin the flip phone, Beachbody On Demand will work on your device. But here are the actual system requirements if you’re a “techie” and need to know the specifics. If you don’t know what the stuff below means, don’t worry, it’s safe to assume that Beachbody On Demand will work on your devices.

Beachbody On Demand Reviews
Below is a screenshot of what a few Beachbody On Demand (commonly referred to as BOD) members had to say about the platform.
What’s The Challenge Du Jour?
You’ll notice in the comments above that one person said, “I especially love the challenge du jour”… so what is the challenge du jour?
The Challenge Du Jour (or Challenge Of The Day) is hybrid program that is selected by one of Beachbody’s fitness experts. If you love variety and doing different programs, then this might be right up your alley. All you do is log in, select the “Challenge Du Jour” category, push play, and start sweating.
Beachbody On Demand Is NOT Just Workouts
That’s right, Beachbody recently launched a cooking show with Autumn Calabrese call FIXATE that is specifically geared towards the portion control container systems. Each episode is between 4-16 minutes long and focuses on one episode. At the time of this post the FIXATE show is fairly new but the feedback received has been great.
A Reality Show!?
The Real World, Jersey Shore, The Biggest Loser… Do you like reality shows? Beachbody On Demand has that TOO!
I’m not joking. Beachbody has a reality show called The 20’s. It’s a show about 20 trainers, all living together in the “Hot House”, competing to be Beachbody’s next celebrity trainer. I haven’t watched the show yet, but I’ve heard from other that it is entertaining. I know this isn’t for everyone, but if you’re intrigued and want to watch part of the first episode you can find it below.
Free 30 Day Trial!
Beachbody On Demand is an INSANE value. The platform is very user friendly and works great. What’s awesome is that you are able to get a free 30 day trial to try out the platform for yourself. If you love the platform and see the value in it you can remain a member. If you don’t like the platform, for any reason, or are just not using it, you can cancel within 30 days and you will not be charged.
Beachbody On Demand Review – Conclusion
In this post I explained the features and benefits of Beachbody On Demand. As for the cons, I couldn’t think think of any. There really is nothing to complain about. Beachbody did an amazing job of putting this platform together and it’s still in “beta” mode and constant improvements and changes are being made. But you don’t have to take my word for it, you can try out the platform completely for free and decide for yourself!
