Recently I was having a conversation with a fellow Beachbody Coach that got signed up just a few months ago. This is what he said to me, “but you’re lucky Marcus, you signed up years ago and were able to get a head start on everyone else”.
This Coach thought my success was based off of timing. His thinking is wayyyyy off and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only is his thinking wrong, it’s also preventing him from taking action and squandering any chance for success at building his own Beachbody Coaching business.
Unfortunately this is a common misconception with Beachbody Coaching (or any network marketing company). Many people think that timing somehow matters. And I understand, I get it, because I use to think this exact same way too.
I started my Beachbody Coach business in 2009. Back then I didn’t know very much about the business model and I thought that I had somehow “missed” the boat. I thought that the Coaches that got started before me had some sort of advantage, and that was the reason was the reason for their success, and why I was struggling… or so I thought (this was before I understood how the business model worked).
Because I truly believed I had a disadvantage, I didn’t believe I could have “real” success as a Beachbody Coach. Sure maybe I could make a few sales here and there, and maybe make a couple extra hundred dollars a month, and I’d be happy with that outcome. But turning Beachbody Coaching into a full time business and making $100K/year, that was out of the question because I wasn’t one of the first Coaches to “get in”. (Again, I was wrong on all of this. Don’t make the same mistake I did.)

Basically, I didn’t understand the business model and my belief level in network marketing was not where it needed to be. This prevented me from seeing the potential, which caused me to not put a serious effort into building my business and therefore not see any results.
I’m sharing this with you because I know many people think the same way I did, or a have a related limiting belief, which is preventing them from taking action and actually doing the daily activities needed to move their business forward.
In other words, if you don’t truly believe you can have success as a Beachbody Coach, you won’t try very hard and you won’t make the sacrifices needed to be successful.
On the flipside, if you understand how the business model works, and know that you can build a very lucrative business for yourself, then you’ll put in the effort and make the required sacrifices.
Here was my personal experience.
I saw new Beachbody Coaches signing up after I did that were taking action and having incredible success. While I was barely trying, these other Coaches were taking massive action and building their businesses. I saw this happening and realized, it’s NOT about timing, it’s about effort. How else could I explain the fact that people where signing up after me, and surpassing me?
The reality is there are Beachbody Coaches that signed up back in 2007 and have never made a dime (because they didn’t put in the effort), and there are Coaches that signed up this month, this week, and probably this same day, that will go on to build incredibly successful businesses for themselves. I’ve seen it happen time and time again.

Here’s the point I’m trying to make;
“Success in network marketing is not about timing, luck, or positioning.”
Many people are stuck on the idea that timing somehow matters. If this thought is in your head, you have to do something to get it out. Read some books on the network marketing business model. (I highly recommend Go Pro, by Eric Worre.)
You’ll often here about new companies with a “Get In Now! Ground Floor Opportunity!” pitch. It sounds good, but don’t fall for it. If you’re ever presented an opportunity that is pitched as “easy money” and “timing matters, get in now”… be very cautious. (And by cautious, I mean run the other way.)
Getting In Early Was Actually A Disadvantage
When I got started as a Beachbody Coach we really only had 1 main product, P90x. And my instructions upon signing up were, “go sell P90x to people”.
Back then we didn’t have:
- 21 Day Fix
- Turbo Fire
- Body Beast
- Hammer & Chisel
- Country Heat
- Beachbody On Demand (which is a game changer for Coaches and customers)
- Great business training in my Coach Online Office
- Challenge Packs
- Challenge Groups
- And much more!
It’s been amazing to witness all of these changes, improvements, and new product launches over years. Things have only gotten better. For anyone that didn’t get signed up back in 2008, be happy, things we tough back then. So much has improved over the years which makes our jobs as Beachbody Coaches easier.
Are There Too Many Beachbody Coaches?
No, there are not too many Beachbody Coaches and the market is not saturated. In the home based business world, Beachbody is still in the infancy stage and there is plenty of room for growth.
What’s funny is that I’ve been getting this question for years. People have said to me 5 years ago, “I want to get started as a Beachbody Coach, but I missed the boat, there are now too many Beachbody Coaches.” And that has been proven to be false. There are people that have signed up a year ago and within that time built an incredible business for themselves. There are people that have signed to be a Beachbody Coach this month, this week, and probably TODAY, that will go on to build a lucrative business.
(Beachbody Coaching is not a get rich quick scheme, it’s more like a get rich slow type of thing, which is OK with me, as long as getting rich is involved. On actual income and what you can expect, click here.)
A Closer Look At The Numbers
A few simple comparisons;
At the time of this writing (Oct. 2016), there are approximately 450,000 Beachbody Coaches. Now compare that to Avon’s 6 million distributors… Get the point? There’s plenty of room for growth.
450,000 Beachbody Coaches might seems like a lot, but it’s actually not. It’s also important to consider that the percentage of all Coaches that are actually treating their business seriously, going through the training, and taking the necessary daily actions needed for success, that percentage is very small. My guess would be somewhere around 10%, and I’m being generous with that guess.
For comparison, if we take a look at how many doctors that are currently working in the U.S., the number is approximately 1 million. If you had a son or daughter that is college age, and they had big dreams of becoming a doctor, would you say to them, “I don’t think becoming a doctor is a good idea. There are already 1 million doctors. The doctor market is saturated.”?
Of course not.
You’d encourage them to do go after whatever it is they want in life. (As long as what they want is not sitting around and playing video games all day and night.)
The same example can be used for real estate agents. There are approximately 2 million active realtors in the U.S… Does that mean a new realtor can’t get started and be successful?… Of course not.
And teachers in the U.S., about 3 million.
The point is, success in anything is about effort. There will always be competition.
Success as a Beachbody Coach has NOTHING to do with timing, and EVERYTHING to do with effort.
Beachbody Will Continue To Grow (with or without you)
International expansion for Team Beachbody and the Beachbody Coaching opportunity is on the horizon. Currently, Beachbody’s business opportunity is only available in U.S. and Canada. Often times it’s challenge to look past our own city, state, or country, and realize enormity of the world. U.S. and Canada combined account for less than 6% of the world population. So while there is still plenty of opportunity right in our own backyard (overweight and obese rates are near 70% and steadily climbing), there is also huge room for growth once we launch into international markets.
Beachbody will continue to grow with or without you. Don’t let the misconception of timing, and “getting in early” prevent you from taking action. You didn’t miss the boat, but you ARE missing it by not taking massive immediate action… TODAY!
